2010 Evening Land Vineyards "La Source" Seven Springs Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay

SKU #1110113 95 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Gorgeously ripe fruit packs this wine with tropical flavors of cantaloupe, apricot and papaya. Lemony acid keeps it fresh and vibrant, and the overall texture and complexity are a revelation. Both of Evening Land’s Chardonnays elevate the grape to new heights in this part of the Willamette Valley. *Editors' Choice. *Top 100 Wines of 2012* (PG) Inner quote mark (12/2012)

95 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Jazzy, racy and distinctive, showing strong mineral accents underpinning the lively lemon and pineapple flavors, with hints of clove that whoosh through the savory frame. Graceful and expressive. Drink now through 2020. (HS) Inner quote mark (12/2012)

Jancis Robinson

Outer quote mark Picked 18-20 October. Light and flinty, lightly reductive - almost more like Chablis than anything else. But with more of a stone-fruit quality overlaying the wet stones. Very clean, dry and precise. Still quite youthful. Definitely for the long term. Still quite tight. Full malolactic. Just 225 cases made. Inner quote mark (8/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The Evening Land 2010 Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard La Source delivers considerable pungency, piquancy and bite of lime peel, white pepper, coriander, fruit pit, and parsnip in a broad, subtly creamy, yet persistently juicy matrix of fresh apple. There is a tension here that may prove more fruitful as the wine evolves (perhaps directly?), and I would certainly anticipate its being worth following for at least 3-4 years. (DS) Inner quote mark (8/2012)

K&L Notes

A classic Oregon Chardonnay, fermented and aged in barrel (11 months, 25% new oak), the "La Source" boasts unbelievable complexity even at a young age, and the promise to evolve quite beautifully with time. Mineral-flecked citrus and anise aromas blossom on this Chardonnay's perfumed nose, turning creamy and rich on the palate, with melon and stone fruit and spice. The wine's filigreed texture is balanced by freshness and acidic lift that carry all the flavors through to the finish.
