SKU #1110092 97 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Aromas of blackberries and blueberries follow through to a full body and velvety tannins. This is so layered and deep. Fabulous texture. Inner quote mark (1/2012)

Outer quote mark The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino wraps across the palate with layers of sweet red cherries, flowers, licorice and spices. Soft and sensual, the 2007 impresses for its impeccable balance and long, suave finish. The 2007 kept improving over the time I followed it. This is a vintage built on silky elegance and expressive fleshiness in the fruit, but those elements need time to emerge fully. There is an inner resonance to the 2007 I find very appealing. (AG) 94+ Inner quote mark (4/2012)

93 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark A wine that speaks of territory and tradition, it’s clean, polished and pristine, with a nice balance between fruit and spice. Thick tannins need more time to age and soften. Inner quote mark (5/2012)

91 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Medium-bodied and fresh, boasting cherry, tobacco, iron and tea flavors. This red starts out smooth, picking up tannins on the dry finish. (BS) Inner quote mark (8/2012)

Jancis Robinson

Outer quote mark Light ruby. Farmyardy 'true' Sangiovese nose. Sweet and a little simple at this stage but good balance and structure. Should get there. 17/20 points (JR) Inner quote mark (5/2012)

It's always a pleasure to offer outstanding Italian reds with a bit of age on them especially when they are of this caliber and quantity. Pacenti has spent many years perfecting his blending techniques and thoughtfully using small French barrels and his 2007 reflects that for sure. This lush Brunello is now showing attractive secondary characteristics in addition to its ample fruit and those looking for a more modern interpretation of Sangiovese with a bit of age will not want to miss this one.

This deep, rich wine starts with aromas of saltiness and dried figs. The savory nose is complemented on the palate without becoming chewy or meaty. The wine keeps a deep elegance with fine tannins. The time in the bottle has been good to this wine and I am anxious to see what more time will do!

This is a full-bodied wine with silky and soft tannin structure with intense fruit (ripe strawberries, inky blackberries and cassis) with hint of dusty Montalcino minerals on the long finish, this is very well-crafted. Just starting to show some maturity, does not need a lot of decanting, great wine to bring to restaurant.

This 2007 has begun to develop a lot of bottle character, the initial, youthful barrel flavors have subsided and a more complex and very savory wine is emerging. The nose is a cauldron of salted plum and Tuscan brush swirling around the glass. On the palate the wine is luscious, rolling across your palate a classic 2007 yet the wine still has verve and freshness and isn’t fat at all. The finish is a very complex blend of earth, spice, plumy fruit that is evolving into a very drinkable now Brunello. Giancarlo Pacenti is an all barrique producer and although I am not a fan of barrique in general for Sangiovese he is really a master of the technique and his wines as they age give the best for the genre. Drinkable now or over the next 3-8 years, have it with som BBQ’ed pork chops, you’ll love it!
Drink from 2016 to 2024
