2005 School House Spring Mountain District Pinot Noir

SKU #1108916

In 1953, John O. Gantner was fortunate enough to acquire the Pinot Noir plantings that were no longer needed by the Inglenook vineyard (Inglenook was switching from Pinot Noir to Cabernet Sauvignon). These Inglenook vines had been propagated from vines on the Domaine de la Romanée Conti in Burgundy. While the resulting wines were definitely not replicas of the DRC wines, the story is indicative of the attention to detail and obsession that went into the establishment of the School House vineyard. The 2005 School House Pinot was produced by the next generation, John M Gantner, and the winemaker was Bob Foley. School House was a cult wine before cult wines were cool.
