2006 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

SKU #1108748 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The utterly profound 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve reveals abundant notes of licorice, creme de cassis, unsmoked high class cigar tobacco, and toasty oak. Full-bodied with fabulous depth, richness, and texture as well as a multilayered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and loads of potential, this stunning wine is capable of lasting 15-20 years. 96 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Makes a strong showing, boasting power, density, richness and complexity, with a sturdy mix and range of cedar- and earth-laced currant and blackberry, plum and anise notes. Maintains focus on a long, persistent finish. Plenty of room to grow, but why wait too long? (JL, Web Only-2016) Inner quote mark

94 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark This is one of the least drinkable of Pride Mountain’s new red wines, simply because it needs time. It’s all primary fruit vs. oak now, with unintegrated blackberry, cherry, currant and mocha flavors fighting it out with smoky caramelized wood and vanilla. Tannins lurk in the background, ready to embrace both sides. Made solidly in the modern cult style of extreme ripeness and high alcohol, it’s a compelling wine that should come into its own sometime late in 2010, and drink well for 6–8 years. *Cellar Selection* Inner quote mark (5/2010)

93 points Vinous

Outer quote mark Bright ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of briary black fruits, dark chocolate and menthol; quite classic for this mountain wine and showing little of the herbal element of the 2005. Wonderfully sweet, smooth and horizontal, and not at all overdone considering its high alcohol. Dark fruit and spice flavors spread out to saturate the mouth, with the substantial but ripe tannins dusting the teeth on the subtly long aftertaste. Interestingly, Steve Pride noted that this wine was very tannic in the early going. (ST) Inner quote mark (6/2015)

91 points Connoisseurs Guide

Outer quote mark As high in ripeness as any of the Pride Reserve bottlings, the 2006 is a very big and mouthfilling wine that is unstinting in richness. It is, however, not quite so tough or as tight as its youth might predict, and, while its tannins are evident, they are not at all abrasive. *Two Stars* Inner quote mark (2/2012)

K&L Notes

The cult following for Pride Mountain has been in full force for years now. Situated high up at the top of Spring Mountain, the winery straddles the Sonoma and Napa county line and commands a spectacular view of Mount St. Helena. The property was a winery well over 100 years ago, and now produces some of the more sought-after wines in California. The reviewers tend to agree with the collectors, as the wines regularly achieve fantastic scores in numerous respected publications.
