First tasted in April 1998: very dark ruby colour. Nose sweet and feminine and quite attractive. Beautifully balanced with classy, sweet liquorish fruits. Harmonious. Superb wine for long-term aging. Retasted in Bordeaux in July 2003: a very fragrant nose, loaded with spice, glycerin and raspberry. The palate is still quite tannic but there is great concentration of liquorice infused fruits. Good grip. Blackcurrant and burnt toast on the finish. Superb. (NM) (1/2000)
Good full red-ruby color. Redcurrant, raspberry, plum, tobacco, spice and mint on the nose. Sweet on entry, then firm and nicely delineated thanks to lively acids. Finishes with firm tannins and sneaky length. More Medoc in style than usual for this chateau; more marked by the Cabernet-but this is still about 75% Merlot. (ST) (4/1999)
Plenty of crushed berry and spice on the nose. Full-bodied, with full, slightly drying tannins, but good berry and chocolate flavors on the finish. Perhaps slightly overwooded. (1/1999)
