2003 Carlisle Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

SKU #1085143

91 points Robert Parker: "The 2003 Zinfandel Dry Creek reveals plenty of that region’s earthiness in addition to a deep ruby/purple color, abundant berry/briery fruit, medium to full body, soft tannin, and a pleasant loamy soil character. Primarily from 118-year old Zinfandel vines planted in the Teldeschi Vineyard blended with a small amount of Petite Sirah, like its siblings, it spent 15-16 months in French oak (30% new), which tends to give these wines more class and graciousness." (12/05) 91(+?) points Stephen Tanzer: "medium ruby-red. Sweet aromas of coffee and oak, with an exotic suggestion of banana. Then juicy, powerful and concentrated, with complex hints of cherry, earth, iron, honey and menthol. Hints at a dried fruit character, with some obvious residual sweetness. A real fruit bomb in the mouth, but has backbone and excellent spicy persistence." (May/June 05)
