More backward, but still accessible is the inky/purple-colored 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Peterson Family Vineyard. A sensational perfume of melted licorice, black currants, smoked meats, underbrush, and toasty oak are followed by blackberry liqueur-like flavors. (RP) (12/2007)
The initial whiff of new leather and toasty oak is appealing, though this is a bit tight on the palate, taking time for the zesty wild berry, currant and black cherry flavors to unfold, ending with a flash of black licorice. (JL) (10/2008)
