The Meyer Family Cellars' California Port is made from several vintages of old vine Zinfandel that averaged eight-years-old upon release. It's vinified in a modified version of the traditional Portuguese solera method, and has rich, roasted black fruit flavors, dried cherries and chocolate. There's also a higher tone from the addition of Zinfandel brandy, which adds kirsch-like cherry and cassis notes. Try this sweetie with some funky cheese, like the Red Hawk from Cowgirl Creamery, or with a chocolate torte drizzled with chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries.
