2010 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1067082 99 points Jeb Dunnuck

Outer quote mark Another massive, incredible release from this estate is the 2010 Léoville Poyferré. Based on 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and the balance Petit Verdot, its inky purple color is followed by a massive, full-bodied, incredibly concentrated 2010 that has awesome notes of pure crème de cassis, licorice, graphite, and spring flowers. As with the 2009, it has incredible depth of fruit, yet a slightly more focused, classic style, which is very much in the style of the 2010 vintage. With its new oak completely absorbed by its wealth of fruit, perfect balance, and sweet tannin, it’s a sensational, monumental effort to drink over the coming 3-4 decades. Inner quote mark (2/2018)

Outer quote mark The wine out distances both Leoville Las Cases and Leoville Barton, but all three of them are compelling efforts. Full-bodied, dense purple in color, with floral notes intermixed with blackberries, cassis, graphite and spring flowers, this full-bodied, legendary effort is long and opulent, with wonderfully abundant yet sweet tannin, a skyscraper-like mid-palate and a thrilling, nearly one-minute finish. This spectacular effort from Poyferre that should drink well for 30+ years. (RP) 98+ Inner quote mark (2/2013)

98 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark A wine of architectural strength and classical proportions, this has straight lines that mark the packed, concentrated fruits, which are sustained by its tannins. This is certainly the best wine that Léoville-Poyferré has produced, sumptuous while so finely structured. *Cellar Selection* (RV) Inner quote mark (2/2013)

97 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Opulent aromas of blackberry, black cherry and orange peel follow through to a full body with round, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. A big, significant wine that is starting to open and come around. A long life ahead of it. Inner quote mark (2/2021)

97 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2010 Léoville-Poyferré has a very intense bouquet with blackberry, briary cedar and light estuarine/seaweed aromas that are very well defined. Pure class. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, layers of pure black fruit laced with pencil lead and a pinch of white pepper. It fans out wonderfully towards the finish, a Saint-Julien demonstrating wonderful density and precision. What an outstanding wine, perhaps less flamboyant than other vintages, one that will last decades. (NM) Inner quote mark (4/2020)

Exotic raspberry. Very good. Rich and long in the mouth, with a silky texture and good viscosity. At UGC: An outstanding, complete wine. Tasty. **

Sexy and exotic, showing a fleshy, fat, sweet mid-palate and ripe, lush tannins.

** Quite flamboyant and fresh. A vibrant wine, with some tough tannins at the back.
