2010 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1066988 96 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Fabulous nose of spice, mushrooms, blueberries and blackberries follows through to a full body, with firm tannins and a silky tannins. This is so savory and beautiful. Best second wine ever from La Mission. Give it until 2018 to open, but hard to wait. Inner quote mark (2/2013)

92-95 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Offers a very sleek, seamless feel, with a rush of violet and pastis notes and a dense, sappy, plum-filled finish. Not as overtly bright as many other 2010s, but you know the freshness is there since this is big yet light on its feet. Tasted non-blind. Inner quote mark (3/2010)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2010 La Chapelle de la Mission, which includes the production from the now-extinct La Tour Haut-Brion vineyard, is a blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, which is a high percentage for the latter grape. Fleshy, succulent and opulent along the lines of the 2009 (which did surprise me ), it is a big wine, with boatloads of glycerin and a classic Graves character of scorched earth, burning embers, charcoal, and plenty of black cherry and black currant fruit. The glycerin level is high, the fruit level impressive, and the purity and texture endearing. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. Inner quote mark (2/2013)

88-91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Outer quote mark (47% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot and 26% cabernet franc; 14.8% alcohol) Dark ruby-purple. Cabernet sauvignon-dominated nose offers clean, spicy aromas of blackberry, minerals, cedar, bitter chocolate and wild herbs. Nicely delineated yet fleshy flavors of blackberry, minerals and tobacco leaf that avoid the austere feel of the Le Clarence de Haut-Brion. Peppery, youthfully chewy tannins gain sweetness with air on the long finish. Inner quote mark (6/2011)

A must buy! This is a stunning wine loaded with aromas of wild raspberry and kirsh, with red berry sorbet on the palate. Great tension and verve.

Deep purple and very fruity, with a good firm finish. Feel the acid!

Bright and floral, with lots of cassis. Bright acidity. The tannins are light but polished, with an astringent finish.
