2008 Bennett Lane "Turn 4" Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1063609

From Robert Parker: "Wow! Look what I found! Bennett Lane's 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Turn 4 is a sensational bargain in Napa Valley Cabernet, the type of wine that consumers should be buying by the case. It possesses a dense dark ruby/purple color along with fleshy black currant flavors, surprising complexity and richness, no hard edges and a lush mouthfeel. This beauty should offer delicious drinking for 4-5 years, possibly longer." (Dec. 2010)

A killer second label from Bennett Lane Winery in Napa Valley the “Turn 4” is surely a stunning value for $20. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot and Malbec sourced from Oakville, Calistoga and St. Helena and aged in French Oak for 18 months this is a wine that has a pedigree much higher than its price tag would dictate. A woodsy nose full of forest-y underbrush, mushroom, new leather combine with riper aromas of baking chocolate, boysenberry and blackberry preserves to create a very complete set of aromatics. The wine comes in soft and plush, completely inviting, with a fully drinkable silky, mocha and espresso flavored mid-palate with highlights of violet and vanilla custard. The finish shows the wine can go for a few more years, if you are so inclined, with a nicely tannic grip that adds dimension and scope to the lush fruit tones. I don’t always agree with Mr. Parker but I can’t fault him in his statement about this wine that “consumers should be buying by the case.”
