Until the 2008 vintage, the second label to Amici Cellars, Olema, was being produced from grapes ground from a single vineyard in Napa Valley. Beginning with the 2008 vintage, that single vineyard was added to the vineyards that make-up the Amici primary Napa Valley Cabernet label, and the owners/winemaker sourced the second label Cabernet fruit from vineyard sites in Sonoma County. The resulting 2008 Olema Sonoma Cabernet is stunningly drinkable and thoroughly enjoyable. Deeply colored, the nose explodes with cassis, currants, blackberries, and pluminess, framed by a mild toasty, oaky tone, which carries over nicely to a silky, viscous, complex, deeply flavored set of flavors in the mouth. This is a remarkably broad and full Cabernet that drinks fantastically well right now, but will get even better (hard to believe!) with a few more years of bottle age. This will be, unquestionably, one of our house reds for months, maybe years, to come according to Anderson. 14.5%ABV (Jim Barr)

The newly released 2008 Olema Cabernet Sauvignon comes from hand picked vineyards in Sonoma whereas the 2007 had come from Napa. The 2008 is every bit as good if not better than the 2007. The cooler Sonoma climate created a more intense and spicy Cabernet layered with lots of Black cherry, black currant, and blackberry fruit with a great spicebox quality on the mid-palate. This is the Perfect Winter Cab that won't break the bank. Lots the chew on here! Grab a few before its gone!
