The 2007 Estate Cuvee State Lane Vineyard (a 750-case blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) boasts an inky/plum/purple color as well as a complex bouquet of melted licorice, chocolate, creme de cassis, mocha, and sweet forest floor aromas. Full-bodied and layered with exquisite purity, texture, and length, this large-scaled offering reveals a supple texture along with 20-25 years of drinkability. It is a seductive yet extraordinarily complex wine that should prove to be a future super-star. (RP)

Deep aromas of blackberry, graphite and violet. Sweet, rich and concentrated, with a layered, chocolatey ripeness to the black fruit, mineral and licorice flavors. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins and terrific length. (ST)

Reminiscent of Bordeaux with its loamy earthiness, texture and structure, this is rich and full-bodied, with mouthcoating tannins yet also plenty of herb- and currant-laced mineral and graphite flavors that are intense and concentrated. Needs time. (JL)

Notes of iodine and dark fruits on the nose. The palate is full and velvety, with a long finish. A serious wine that needs some time.
