2009 La Corte Moscato d'Asti "Preludio"

SKU #1057927

Moscato d'Asti was made in these parts since the 13th century. This one, from the best area for the grape, Canelli, is straw yellow in color with aromas of white peaches and flowers and a palate that is lightly sweet, delicate and with a truly lovely natural effervesence.

This wine will titillate the senses, superbly fresh, elegant mousse (Crisp with little bubbles), the color is an intense straw yellow, and apricots and honeysuckle mingle on the palate with a little effervescence, that dances on the tongue. This wine is usually partnered with dessert, particularly with the classic panettone or with dry pastries, I think this a winederful aperitif at 5% alc you can give your guest a big glass and enjoy on a warm fall evening.

I normally don’t include sweet wines in my reviews, mainly because really good dessert wines are, by the nature of the beast, incredibly expensive. But when Greg and Mike returned from a recent buying trip to Italy and announced that one of our new direct import producers made some of the finest, freshest Moscatos that we have ever offered, I couldn’t resist. The 2009 La Corte “Preludio” Moscato d’Asti is a classic, with a bright, perfumed nose and fresh, clean white peach and honeydew melon flavors enhanced by natural effervescence and lovely freshness. This incredible Gem is our house dessert or afternoon quaffer for the month, according to Eby. 5% ABV.
