2007 Domaine Georges Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Cras"

SKU #1057127 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Here the nose is similar to that of the Combottes except that it is even more elegant and high-toned plus it evidences more of an emphasis on minerality that continues onto detailed, racy and focused medium-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract and energy on the driving finish that delivers sneaky length. There is a different personality here as well as a touch of youthful austerity that will require a few years to emerge from its shell. A terrific wine of balance and finesse but there is no lack of grip. Highly recommended. Inner quote mark (1/2010)

Outer quote mark Good medium red. Black raspberry, spices and minerals on the nose. Then concentrated, sweet and intense, with lovely cut to the flavors of dark fruits and pepper. This, too, is blacker in character than the 2008 version but boasts excellent intensity and plenty of lift. Finishes with fine, dusty tannins and noteworthy persistence. 91 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Rich and suave, delivering black cherry, cassis, violet and spice notes. Silky and vibrant, with adequate tannins and a long, fresh finish. The tannins are present on the long, tensile, mineral-filled finish, but there's enough fruit to match. Best from 2014 through 2028. (BS) Inner quote mark (5/2010)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Ripe plum and cherry tinged with the bitterness of their pits inform a Roumier 2007 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras that generously coats the palate and caries a lip-smacking sense of salinity into its lingering finish of lightly tart yet sweetly ripe fruitiness. Having commented on the dip that his 2007s seem to be experiencing, Roumier adds that he is surprised at the generosity of this one, albeit from a bottle that had been opened for 3-4 hours and which he testified was not as expressive when first opened. The tannins here are impressively fine-grained. I suspect this needs a couple of additional years in bottle but would still plan to drink it over the next 6-8. (DS) Inner quote mark (6/2010)
