Darker in color than most 2007 Sauternes, showing intense aromas of dried apricot, with toffee notes and an almost smoky character. Full-bodied and very sweet, with a full-blown dried fruit and raisin flavor. Long and superbly rich. *Highly Recommended* (3/2010)
Tasted at the de Myrat vertical at the property. The 2007 Château de Myrat is the vintage where this historic property finally 'got back into the ring' after it recommenced production in 1990. It has an attractive dried honey, apricot blossom and quince scented bouquet that still feels vigorous and with more to give for those who prefer their Sauternes with age. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening, a fine line of acidity, harmonious and refined with a finish that just seems to 'flow' with lovely citrus fruit, honey, mandarin and spice notes. This comes recommended—an excellent wine from Xavier de Pontac. (NM) (10/2016)
