2006 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1054098 95 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Very perfumed with spices, blackberries and currants, hints of mushrooms develop with time in the glass. Full and silky, with ripe juicy tannins and wonderful fruit. Hints of vanilla bean and dark chocolate on the finish. Inner quote mark (4/2011)

95 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark A true star of the vintage, capturing the essence of great Cabernet, with an array of rich, fine-tuned dark berry, earth, mineral, graphite and tobacco leaf notes. The sum of the parts is what makes this shine. No sign of fatigue, though now is an ideal time to enjoy this. Yum. (JL, Web Only-2016) Inner quote mark

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark A very strong effort, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a sweet perfume of blue and black fruits intermixed with hints of toasty oak, graphite, truffles, and forest floor. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated with remarkably silky tannins for a 2006, it will benefit from 3-4 more years of cellaring, and should keep for 20-25 years. (RP) 94+ Inner quote mark (12/2009)

93 points Vinous

Outer quote mark Bright, dark ruby. Superripe aromas of raspberry compote and graphite minerality are complicated by a touch of herbs. In a rather muscular, backward style and a bit tough to taste today. Displays the slightly earthy, autumnal qualities often found in the '96s but also possesses very good bite. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. Much less opulent than the 2007. Bettina Bryant noted that this wine was a bit rustic in its youth, and it still needs further aging. (ST) 93+ Inner quote mark (5/2017)

K&L Notes

Bryant Family is one of the premier collectible Cabernets in California. Serious wine here -- David Abreu is their vineyard manager and Michel Rolland is their consulting enologist. Always highly rated and sought after, the Bryant Cab is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill, which looks out over Lake Hennessey.
