2007 Talley "Rincon Vineyard" Arroyo Grande Pinot Noir

SKU #1051159

95 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Pinot Noir Rincon Vineyard has a color similar to the Rosemary’s. Dense ruby/purple-tinged, with a slightly more herbal, earthy nose, the underbrush notes are more obvious than in the Rosemary’s. Some new oak is also more apparent in this wine. In the mouth, it turns on its charm in a convincing manner. Wonderfully broad, expansive, sweet raspberry and black cherry fruit cascade over the palate, with no hard edges. Rich, full-bodied, and somewhat of an anomaly in that the flavors seem more evolved than the aromatics, this is another gorgeous Pinot Noir from the Talley Family that should drink nicely for up to a decade. " (08/10) 92(+?) points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Pure, spicy aromas of black raspberry, anise, spicecake and fresh flowers. Tight and precise but with a subtle sweetness to its dense, youthful cherry and dark berry flavors. Opens out on the back end, finishing with sweet clinging spiciness and an echo of dark berries. I'd stash this away for at least a few more years." (Nov/Dec '09) The low-yield, estate Rincon Vineyard Pinot Noir was fermented using native yeasts and aged sur lie in 35% new French oak barrels. It is an full-throttle Pinot from an exceptional vineyard, with a deep bouquet of minerals, blackberries, cedar and licorice. The mouth-filling palate mimics the nose with firm tannins and solid acidity. This is Pinot for hearty fare - try it with lamb stew.
