Vinous
A big, intense wine, the 2005 Barolo Lazzarito is simply stunning. Huge and dramatic on the palate, the 2005 boasts serious intensity and structure, with more than enough fruit to fill out its large, ample frame. A host of mineral and savory notes develop with time in the glass, but the 2005 is incredibly fresh and primary. As always there is a noticeable sheen of new French oak, but the wine handles it very well. Today, the Lazzarito is a real knock-out. (AG)

Wine Enthusiast
Lazzarito is an outstanding achievement and a wonderful example of the staying power of Barolo. The wine is redolent of sweet spice, clove, smoked bacon, licorice and roasted almon-—in fact, it’s almost too much of a good thing. There are deep layers here and the wine boasts a soft velvety feel. *Cellar Selection*

Wine & Spirits
The vines in Vietti's section of Lazzarito average 35 years of age, a maturity that contributes to this wine's beautifully balance-a mix of floral aromas and fresh cherry with an iron-earth grip of tannin. It grows savory and complex with air, the dense structure propelled forward by bright, vibrant acidity. That energy indicates that there's a long life in store for this wine: Cellar it for anywhere between ten and 15 years.
