Easily one of the best Justin reds in years. An unusual blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, it shows a wonderful texture, courtesy of softly ripe tannins and just-in-time acidity. The flavors are all cherries: pie filling, red currants, and ripely fresh fruit off the tree on a hot summer day. Delicious and compelling. (3/2010)
This wine may be called Justification, but you'll need little to justify buying it. Reflective of the impressive 2007 vintage, this blend of 65% Cabernet Franc and 35% Merlot is sultry Right Bank-styled claret. Tendrils of red fruit, leather, tar, and cigar box aromas wrap around a palate that is kissed with blackberry, currant, dusty tannins, and hints of caramel. Approachable with some air, this is a wine you can cellar for the next decade.
