2007 August West "Rosella's Vineyard" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

SKU #1046624 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Dense black cherry and earthy black currant fruit intermixed with hints of underbrush and herbs result in a sweet, fragrant bouquet. This wine exhibits excellent ripeness, outstanding depth, and plenty of upside potential. Accessible at present, it should evolve nicely for 5-8 years or more. (RP) (8/2009)

Wine Spectator

Aromas of sage, mint, black cherry, cola and dried berry turn to a complex mix of flavors. Full-bodied, firmly tannic but balanced. (JL, Web Only-2009)

K&L Notes

There are around 900 cases of August West's 2007 Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir, a large production by this small winemaker's standard. A fine example of Rosella's, one of the most famous vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Spicy on the nose with aromas of black cherries that carry over to the palate. A bigger style that's drinking well already, but is plenty structured to last for a decade or more.
