The blockbuster 2004 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is a superb example of a Cotes de Nuits-like offering from this site. Its dark ruby/purple hue is accompanied by glorious aromas of sweet black fruits, forest floor, and spring flowers. (RP)

*Two Stars* The ripest of the Siduri's in this month's review, this full-bodied effort from the Pisoni Vineyard will win few style points but still comes across as rich, deep and varietal-if you can picture Pinot Noir coming from the Rhône Valley. It is supple and fleshy in the mouth and entirely inviting even if directed by high ripeness and a streak of chocolaty richness at the center of its concentrated fruit flavors. It is clearly a singular statement, yet it is a wine that deserves its loyal following.

Rich and graceful, with layers of ripe plum, spice, blackberry and cherry fruit, all delivered on a smooth, polished texture, with a finish that brings all the flavors together, ending with a bing cherry aftertaste.

A deft touch of wood frames really pretty deep register red berry and earth aromas that complement the round, rich, supple and sweet medium-bodied mouth coating flavors that offer admirable concentration though there is noticeable warmth on the finish. I deliberately allowed this wine to warm up over a 30 minute period and not surprisingly, the alcohol quickly became intrusive yet receded again when I cooled it appropriately. Thus, I would strongly suggest taking care to keep the bottle cool while drinking it.

Good bright medium red. Subdued but pure aromas of black cherry and menthol. Rich, supple and broad, with a pliant texture and enticing sweetness. Round and full in the mouth, even voluptuous, but not at all cooked. In fact, this distinctly chewy Pinot wears its 15% alcohol gracefully. Finishes with dusty tannins and lingering sweetness.
