2007 Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

SKU #1044878 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark A fabulous introduction, the generic cuvee, the 2007 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills (just over 1,000 cases produced), possesses a deep plum/ruby hue as well as gorgeously sweet, sexy, plum, cherry, forest floor, and spring flower notes. (RP) Inner quote mark (9/2009)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark You can taste and feel the stem inclusion in this whole cluster-fermented Pinot Noir. It’s tannic, dry and spicy, with a heart of cherries and briary berries. Tough and chewy now. Better after 2011. Inner quote mark (10/2009)

K&L Notes

Brewer-Clifton is a collaborative project uniting winemakers Steve Clifton (Palmina, Tritono) and Greg Brewer (Diatom, Melville) designed to showcase the terroir of Santa Barbara County. This young, dynamic duo makes delicious wines, and their 2007 vintage is superlative. This is the first-ever appellation bottling for the winery, creating a more affordable wine with great regional character from the same high-quality fruit that goes into the single-vineyard offerings. Heady lavender and rose petal aromas create an initial impression of walking through a summer garden, and the flowers are nicely complemented by raspberry fruit notes. The wine is tangy in the mouth, showing pomegranate, black cherry and orange zest nuances framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins and good acidity.
