Connoisseurs Guide
The biggest, boldest, most deeply filled of the impressive line-up from David Arthur, the Elevation 1147 is simply brimming with dense, optimally ripened, curranty fruit that is framed by neatly tailored oak spice. It is very full-bodied and positively plush at the start, but its formidable tannins remind that the very best Cabernet Sauvignons are those built for aging, and its rich and riveting fruit powers through at the finish with such conviction that we have no doubt whatsoever that it will weather a decade of keeping with absolute ease. *Three Stars*

Wine Enthusiast
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a best barrels selection. It's the densest, most tannic of David Arthur's current releases, a massive wine stuffed with black currants, blackberries, anise, tobacco and smoky new oak. Best of all, it's dry, dry, dry. Fine now, if you're into young wines, but should age well in a good cellar for many years. *Cellar Selection, Best of Year 2009*

James Suckling
Currants and toasted oak, with coffee and chocolate on the nose. Full bodied, with very rich and thick tannins and loads of fruit. This is a big and juicy style. Some might call it blockbuster. Impressive for the genre. Give this some time to soften the slightly coarse tannins. Pull the cork after 2013.

Wine Spectator
Firm, dense and concentrated, tightly wound and sharply focused. Full-blown, with rich, spicy currant, mineral, graphite and black licorice. This firms up nicely on the finish, where its complexity shines. (JL)

Vinous
Bright ruby-red. Very ripe and aromatic nose combines cassis, blueberry and complex soil tones. Lush and pliant in the mouth, with a restrained sweetness to the nuanced flavors of dark berries, mocha, chocolate and earth. Tactile and broad wine with very good inner-palate energy. Finishes long, with a positive medicinal quality. (ST)

K&L Notes
Every year, David Arthur makes the Napa Elevation 1147 from the vintage's best Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. This single-vineyard wine is then aged for 23 months in 90% new French oak barrels, which impart deep vanilla and spice character to the wine. Blue and black fruit, garrigue and dusty earth round out the palate, which is plush with firm tannins and nice acidity.
