Schramsberg "Mirabelle" California Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine
SKU #1042410
Connoisseurs Guide
One of the nice surprises in this month's survey of new sparkling wines, this well-composed offering shows a good sense of fruity depth and displays fine champenized precision with a full and frothy mousse, defined yeast and energy to spare. It notably outperforms Schramsberg's Mirabelle Brut in this outing and is, all in all, an eminently likable bubbly that fills the Rosé niche nicely. *One Star*

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The NV Mirabelle Brut Rosé is made from 53% Chardonnay and 47% Pinot Noir, using 84% fruit from the 2016 vintage and the remainder from aged reserve lots. Medium cherry-pink in color, it has restrained aromas of crushed stone, citrus peel, red berries and hints of baker's yeast and candle smoke. The medium-bodied palate is dry with a finely beaded mousse, a fresh berry character and a long, juicy finish. (EB)

K&L Notes
Schramsberg's Mirabelle is a lively, multi-vintage blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the winery's cool-climate vineyards in Carneros, Anderson Valley, Sonoma, and Marin. Its explosive bouquet is redolent of candied watermelon, wild strawberries, and framboise notes. The aromatics lose their candied quality and carry over to the palate, with youthful tart red fruit flavors. There's also a hint of brioche and exotic vanilla flavors to round out this lovely sparkler.
