Sonoma County's Alexander Valley was formed by an ancient landslide that shifted the course of the Russian River and subsequent earthquakes that redistributed whole sections of land. This geologic activity has created a winegrowing region with incredible soil diversity along with unique microclimates that generate bright and beautiful wines like this 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. Its fragrant bouquet is invigorating, loaded with blackberry and cassis laced with rose and cedary spice. In the mouth the wine is all black fruit with subtle nuances of herbs, chocolate and oak vanillin. Aged for 14 months in a combination of new and used French and American oak, the wine is a mouthfilling, full-bodied drink to be enjoyed in the near term.
