Tasted from a half bottle, the rich and complex flavors of Brut La Française show just that extra touch of maturity. The wine has peach and almond flavors that contrast well with the taut, nervy edge. It’s full in the mouth and ripe, and works well both as an apéritif and a food Champagne. (5/2013)
Hints of marzipan and lightly charred toast add richness without overwhelming the flavors of poached pear, lemon curd and black currant in this lively version, showing a creamy, detailed texture. Drink now through 2018. (12/2012)
(50% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay and 10% pinot meunier; L1335PP00300): Bright yellow-gold. Musky pear skin, quince and orange zest aromas show very good energy. Hefty and chewy in texture, offering fleshy orchard fruit and chamomile flavors and a hint of bitter citrus fruit. Closes with firm grip and very good length, leaving a poached pear note behind.
