2004 Grand Puy Lacoste, Pauillac

SKU #1031444 91 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Subtle aromas of currant, berries and vanilla follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long finish. Builds on the finish. Serious for the vintage. Best after 2010. (JS) Inner quote mark (3/2007)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Well, first things first: it does not smell like a white Burgundy (I am sure that must have been something with my glass!) No, this is straight down the line Cabernet Sauvignon, good ripeness, blackberry, cedar, pain grille and cigar box. The palate has firm tannins, off-dry and conservative without the weight of a more favourable vintage, but very focused, rather haughty on the dry finish, aloof even. Give it a few years and it will deign you with its presence. (NM) Inner quote mark (3/2009)

Outer quote mark Medium-deep red. Ripe aromas of plum, leather, chocolate and mellow nutty oak; can't match the 2005 or 2006 for lift. Then supple, sweet and accessible, with ripe but cooler flavors framed by harmonious acidity. Not a particularly powerful or structured wine but the tannins are suave and the finish offers good smoky persistence. This has turned out nicely. (ST) Inner quote mark (5/2007)
