7% Petit Verdot; 4% Merlot; 2% Syrah. Lots of sweet, black-cherry fruit is what drives this very rich and flavorful effort with nicely measured oak spice and a faint whiff of herbs lending a note of quiet complexity. There is more than enough fruit, in fact, to lift the wine past its somewhat abrasive young tannins, and lend real optimism that its best is yet to come. Set it aside for at least five years of age, and do not be surprised if it winds up improving for ten or more. *Two Stars* (7/2008)
