2005 Domaine Michel Lafarge Bourgogne Passetoutgrains "L'Exception"

SKU #1029938

According to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 'From two parcels in Volnay, the Lafarge 2005 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain displays bright, tart sour cherry fruit, hints of game, and a finish of meat broth, wood smoke, cherry pit and sharply-focused fruit. This is an invigorating and ultimately versatile value of exceptional proportions that plays well outside of its classificatory league. The entire Lafarge collection was predictably still in barrel when I visited in February, with even the generic cuvees due for assembly only in March. Speaking of generic bottlings, I don’t know of another domaine that has three of them, and I certainly doubt that there is one with three routinely worthy of attention even by those with the disposable income to afford premier crus." (06/07) Made from very old vines, this spectacular blend of gamay and pinot noir (roughly one-third gamay) has been made by this domaine for 70 years. A terrific summer red, with surprising stuffing. Enjoy with poultry, served hot or cold. This wine is not yet available, & is sold on a pre-arrival basis. We will notify you on arrival.
