K&L Notes

Cannot be shipped, will call pick up only. Don Julio is particularly proud of this limited-edition Añejo, and rightfully so: "I established my first tequila distillery in 1942 and to commemorate that very special year, I have created Don Julio 1942 as a unique and limited edition I personally selected the stock for this new release. Its golden line and perfect clarity I find appealing and a testament to its purity. The aroma is sweet and ripe with layers of agave and notes of ripe apple and oak. The taste is smooth, rich and clean with oak and vanilla finish. Don Julio 1942 will appeal to both connoisseurs and collectors of fine tequila. I hope you enjoy it."

Tasting Don Julio 1942 is always a SHOCKING experience. I truly doesn't compute how they're able to create something so heady and sweet using just highland distilled agave and oak barrels in the quantities that they must. The nose an explosive mix of sweet coconut, fresh vanilla bean, chocolate nibs and tropical fruit. On the palate the richness is jaw dropping, I can't help but let out a guttural exclamation. Uhhhhhh what the hell did they do here? Yes it's sweet, but it's so decadent you almost want to compare it to Sauternes or Quart de Chaumes. Baked tropical fruit, smooth silky texture and a long lingering finish. I tasted this next to slow BBQ cacao crusted short ribs and couldn't imagine a better pairing. We've also got this killer price so there's that too...
