SKU #1020667 Whisky Advocate

Outer quote mark Launched in 2006 as the first mainstream Arran bottling with an age statement, it is sweet and malty on the nose, with fresh-planed wood and toffee apples. The palate is fruity, with ripe banana, honey, vanilla, coconut, and wood spices. Spicy orchard fruits and malt in the relatively long finish. Well-balanced and eminently drinkable at this age. The quality has improved since earlier bottlings. (GS, Fall 2018) Inner quote mark

K&L Notes

The much anticipated new release of Arran 10 Year. This fabulous Island Distillery was built in 1996 and their flagship 10 year has been around since 2006. Now, with the assistance of legendary design firm Stranger & Stranger, they've released this wonderful whisky with a completely new look and flavor. Arran is distilled in Lochranza at the first legal distillery here despite the island's long history of illicit distilation. The owners have since built a second distillery across the island called Lagg devoted to peated malt. The gorgeous new label is coupled with an improved 10 year blend featuring classic Arran flavors citrus, vanilla, sweet malt and ripe fruit.

This single malt is for those looking for a malt that does not have any smokey flavors. The Arran 10 year old is bright and refreshing and packed full of round juicy fruit flavors. It is pure with a nice balanced finish. Almost too easy to drink and like.

I often overlook this Single malt; it is easy to do when looking at our shelves, but after trying this recently, no more. This small independently owned distillery is new, just about 15 years old. Their entry level whisky should be in everyone’s liquor cabinet. Medium rich with a great blend of both Bourbon and Sherry barrels; this is a whisky with no edges. It as easygoing and comfortable as a broken-in lay-z-boy. Perfect for kicking back and forgetting about your day, it will not challenge you with its complexity but indulge you with caramel, crème Brule, heather and a touch of apple.
