An elegant, graceful style, with ripe cherry, currant, green olive and bell pepper notes that are focused and well-mannered. Enough tannin to cellar short-term. (JL) (3/2001)
While Jordan's Alexander Valley Cabernet has been a favorite among restauranteurs and diners across the nation, this famously cuisine-friendly wine doesn't always earn the highest marks from the critics looking for more fruit and power. For many consumers, the wine may evoke fond memories. The winery's library tasting note: "The generous 1997 vintage provided a bounty of stunning fruit - intensely aromatic and layered with lush, dense flavors. In 2009, at full maturity, this wine shows flavors of black cherry, herbs and cedar. There is not much sediment - no decanting is necessary - but the wine benefits from a few minutes in the glass."
