You could drink this classic Cab now, tannic as it is, because any wine this balanced and fine can be appreciated. Better to leave it be for five or ten years. It’s a dramatic wine, dense in black currants and black cherries, with a creme de cassis-like unctuousness. Oak has been judiciously applied. After all the new kids on the block have come and gone, Grgich Hills still stands. (11/2005)
Bright ruby-red. Fresh aromas of black cherry, cassis, bitter chocolate, graphite and brown spices. Vibrant and sappy in the mouth, with strong but integrated acidity and a pungent note of cranberry giving lift to the dense flavors of black fruits, cola and spices. Finishes with sweet tannins and lingering oak spice. I like the brightness of this wine. (2/2006)
