2002 Archery Summit "Premier Cuvee" Oregon Pinot Noir

SKU #1016148 Connoisseurs Guide

Toasty oak with hints of roasted coffee beans and smoky bacon mixed in provide the aromatic setting for a combination of ripe and sour cherries. And it is this latter trait, together with far too stiff tannins, that comes first in the mouth and holds this wine in check rather than letting it bloom. Those with patience might find rewards in time. (10/2005)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Deep, saturated red. Spicy oak, cherry, roasted coffee and blackberry on the nose. On the palate, this is sweet and plump, with gentle cherry/berry flavors. Finishes long and supple, with an interesting white pepper quality. (5/2005)

Wine Spectator

Lithe and spicy, with a gritty edge to the modest, earthy berry flavors. (Web-2005)

K&L Notes

With all of the action up in Oregon Pinot country lately, it's becoming clear that the region's growth and renown will only continue to increase in the coming years. It's a great time to reflect on a library vintage of Oregon Pinot. The 2002 Premier Cuvée was composed of fruit from mature vines grown in four of Achery's estate vineyards: Red Hills Estate, Arcus Estate, Renegade Ridge Estate and Archery Summit Estate.
