2001 Vietti Barolo "Brunate"

SKU #1016108 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Good medium-deep red. Ripe, expressive aromas of cherry, chocolate, cedar and rose petal. Intensely flavored, juicy and del ineated, with enticing inner-mouth perfume and grip. Not as large-scaled or fleshy as some of the other 2001 Vietti Barolos but finishes long and stylish, with very fine tannins. 93+ (ST) (11/2004)

The 2001 Barolo Brunate is a bit more forward in its bouquet than it is in its flavors. Otherwise, it has aged quite well. There is plenty of power and richness in the dark red fruit, flowers, mint and menthol. I would prefer to drink this within the next few years, while the fruit retains its presence. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (AG) (4/2012)

Masses of ripe fruit and new wood on the nose in this young red. Full-bodied, with velvety, chewy tannins and a long, long finish. Full-blown style for Vietti. (JS) (10/2005)
