2001 is justifiably known as a great vintage on the North Coast. 2001 gave Cain Vineyard everything it needed to turn in a wine of great charm and character. On the nose are signature aromas of anise and orange peel with a hint of roasted meat. The palate offers a sweet entry, fully structured body, with balanced, slightly "grippy" rustic tannins. Exhibits a pleasingly refined mouth feel and a long finish. A candidate for short-term cellaring, it tastes great now with decanting.
