Put 77's weediness with Petrus's richness and you get something very fresh but well balanced. Possibly the best 1977 I've ever had. It's light, probably has always been light and would always have looked inferior to the 1976, and gives the impression it won't last all that long. A little bit of greenness dominates the nose. 17/20 points (JR) (6/2013)
From Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pétrus: it just sounds classy. You might not know what it is, but you know that it is precious. To wine connoisseurs, no other word evokes feelings of awe and wonderment: an iconic wine familiar to many, tasted by few. Despite vain efforts by arrivistes, the Californian cult cabernets and some of the garagistes that naïvely equate scarcity with quality; it remains the vinous Holy Grail." (Producer Profile)
