1976 Trotanoy, Pomerol

SKU #1007460

According to Robert Parker: "Generally very highly regarded…Quite plummy, fat, even peppery, with a lovely lush structure, this is an exotic style of Trotanoy that is delicious…" (Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition) Wine Spectator reports: "Still youthful, with aromas of black olives and tobacco. Excellent balance of ripe, elegant tobacco flavors. It's great to drink now but will hold on for many years. Trotanoy in this vintage must be one of the best.--Trotanoy vertical." (10/15)

Additional Information:

- A very popular red grape variety found in the great wines of St. Emilion and Pomerol. It is the most planted variety in Bordeaux, and it has also become an extremely fashionable red in many regions including California. Although it has a reputation to be smooth, and easy to drink when young, Merlot is also capable of producing extremely intense wines as well. It is often used as a blending agent with Cabernet Sauvignon.

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
