A very high-toned nose redolent of a Languedoc-Roussillon. Good concentration on the palate. Blackberry, plum and pain grille. Fine acidity, quite modern compared to the Grand Vin. An ebullient second wine. Drink now. Tasted October 2004. (Neal Martin's Wine Journal)
Deep, vivid fruit aromas and well-judged oak. Good vigour in the mouth, and some quirky apricot flavours.
Deep healthy crimson, very very dense palate. Compact, dense, intriguing nose - this wine actually smells purple, honest. Very taut. Lots of top quality oak as a corset. Absolutely no hurry to drink this - though it's certainly more approachable than the grand vin. (10/2003)
This is the second wine of famed Second Growth Léoville-Barton, and is one of the finest second wines of this widely-acclaimed vintage. On a par with Pagodes and Reserve de la Comtesse de Lalande.
