2000 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru

SKU #1002751 97 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Truly glorious and incredibly seductive in the nose, with a complex but also subtle swirl of fruit, herbs and spice. Bold, sleek and velvety on the palate, with a distinct core that is pleasingly redolent of fresh-picked grape stems, but surrounded by ripe raspberry and cherry flavors. It evens out with hints of leather, toast, crème brûlée, rose petals, citrus and toast on the long, lingering finish. Inner quote mark (10/2003)

Outer quote mark I hadn't tasted this since 2007 and decade of aging has treated the '00 LT very well. While there is a bit of lightening at the rim, this remains relatively deeply colored. This possesses a classic La Tâche nose of dried rose petals plus a fantastic array of dark fruit and spice-tinged aromas. The fine, detailed and beautifully textured, indeed velvety broad-shouldered flavors possess impressive mid-palate concentration as well as terrific length on the still markedly firm and mouth coating finish. While this is certainly a highly enjoyable wine now, it's also one that is very clearly still positively evolving. Tasted multiple times with mostly consistent notes. Inner quote mark (4/2017)

Outer quote mark Good full medium red. Pure aromas of cassis, violet and minerals. Rich, sweet, suave and penetrating, with lovely mineral character and integrated acidity contributing to an impression of precision. Very primary, long and subtle on the back end. This makes the Romanee-Conti seem almost earthy by comparison. (ST) Inner quote mark (4/2003)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Tasted at the La Tâche vertical at The Square. The La Tâche 2000 has never been reviewed by The Wine Advocate. Despite the challenges of this modest Burgundy season, it should not be overlooked. It clearly has a more mature appearance than the 1999 with wide bricking on the rim. The aromatics are also more advanced with bacon fat and baking powder infusing the red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, tart red cherries on the entry and then moving confidently toward secondary notes on the finish–cola, brown spices and sage. (NM) Inner quote mark (4/2015)
