93 points James Suckling: "Dried apple and pineapple with hints of coconut, steel and some flint. Full-bodied and tight with intensity and power. This will open nicely with bottle age. Try after 2022." (07/2021) 92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay is a unique wine, as it includes a fair amount of Viognier that adds pretty floral and tropical overtones. Apricot, mint, tangerine oil, chamomile and dried flowers all open nicely in the glass. (AG)" (01/2021)

100 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2009 Château Mouton Rothschild is an absolutely brilliant wine that displays incredible class and sophistication. It is slow to unwind in the glass, but when it does the breathtaking aromas all begin to take shape. It begins with beautiful ripe black cherries and blackberries which are woven together with dried exotic spices, florals, tobacco, scorched earth and crushed stones all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this classy wine has it all, balanced, structured and complex, with remarkable precision and focus. ...

92 points Burghound: "If you enjoy overtly yeasty Champagne this would make a good choice as there is plenty of it here framing the relatively elegant nose that combines notes of citrus, white flowers, pear and apple scents that display wisps of secondary development. The old vines definitely are in evidence here with fine mid-palate density that is supported by a moderately fine mousse, all wrapped in a delicious, sappy and lingering finish. This isn't a particularly refined example but I quite like it for its complexity and clear concentration." (10/20...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made from a blend of vintages from 2007 to 2015, this Champagne shows maturity as well as rich red apple and lemon-zest flavors. With its strong mineral edge, the wine is textured and now ready to drink. (RV)" (06/2020) K&L Notes: The Louis Victor from Coutelas is made in the solera style, from one large barrel containing a perpetual blend. Coutelas lists this as composed of 1/3 each Chardonnay, Meunier, and Pinot Noir, but in fact, it is refreshed with 1/4 of the best wine vinified in a given year, while another 1/4 is take...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pure gold, the 2010 Château Léoville Poyferré, which was drunk beside a perfect 2009 Latour, offers everything you could want from wine. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as an incredible array of crème de cassis, graphite, damp earth, leafy tobacco, and beautifully integrated oak, it hits the palate with an incredible amount of fruit and opulence while always staying pure, precise, and as seamless as they come. It shows the density and power of the 2010 vintage, but it’s remarkable in its balance, purity, and length. As with mo...

94 points James Suckling: "Complex and layered Champagne with aromas of hazelnuts, ginger, candied citrus, dried pineapple, spices, toast and roasted almonds. Very fine and integrated bubbles and an elegant yet concentrated interplay of dried fruit and toasty notes." (06/2022) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a fine Champagne—fruity and with a touch of almonds. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes leads to a harmonious richness that is balanced by the tight acidity at the end. (RV)" (12/2022) Jancis Robinson: "Smoky lemon and orange oils ...

91 points James Suckling: "Aromas of black cherries, potpourri and bitter roots, as well as a hint of tree bark. Medium body with chewy tannins. Subtly toasty aftertaste. A little austere. Compact and tight. " (09/2023) K&L Notes: Exclusively imported in limited quantities, the 2019 Poggiarellino Brunello di Montalcino captures the essence of this extraordinary vintage. Crafted from 100% Sangiovese and aged traditionally, it showcases vibrant red cherry, plum, and earthy undertones, supported by firm tannins and balanced acidity. A standout wine from a...

This classic Sézanne Champagne is composed of 96% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Noir aged over 8 years on the lees. It is dosed at under 8g/l and all stainless steel fermented. This is a classic 2012, with fantastic richness, length and minerality, and should age very well if you can keep your hands off of it! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

93 points James Suckling: "A firm, chewy Brunello with cherry, walnut and black-truffle character, as well as tile undertones. It’s full-bodied with dark fruit and mahogany and cedar undertones. Tight and wooded at the moment, but should come round with bottle age. Give it time. Try after 2023." (11/2020) K&L Notes: Exclusively imported in small quantities, the 2016 Poggiarellino Brunello di Montalcino represents one of the most celebrated vintages in recent history. Made from 100% Sangiovese, it delivers intense aromas of ripe cherry, dried herbs, and...

Domaine Renaud is a small operation in the town of Puissé, where they make Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé and St. Veran wines from twelve hectares of estate vineyards. Their cellar is modern and they use upright ovals for many of the wines, stainless steel for others. Only 5,000 bottles of this vintage Champagne were made by the Derot family. It is a blend of half each Chardonnay and Meunier, vinified in enamel-lined stainless steel, all from their own estate. It is dosed at the bottom level of brut, just 7 grams per liter. I love the nougat, brioche and clean pear aromas of this classy, perfectly balanced vintage wine! —Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Delicately fragrant and poised, this focused red offers enticing scents suggesting wild rose, red berries, wet stone and a whiff of flinty mineral. Hailing from extremely high-altitude vineyards, the linear, ethereal palate features tart sour cherry, pomegranate, white pepper and saline alongside racy acidity. Lithe tannins lend polished support. KO" 18 points Jancis Robinson: "Palish ruby with orange tinges. Subtle brooding raspberry nose with a suggestion of oak. 96 points Decanter: "A deep amber colour immediately signals age in this 2004. The nose opens with a top note of bright lemon, bedded in richest creaminess with a lovely notion of white truffle. The palate is super smooth with creamiest foam and still displays immense zestiness, again with an edge of truffle and notes of marmalade. Yet aromatics continue to flicker, like flashes of lemon balm and blood orange on the fresh side, hints of clove and game on the tertiary side. This is evolved yet fresh and serene. No wonder, since the grapes are from grand c...

Supple silky and inviting, the 2017 is another Pinot in this range that will drink beautifully upon release. Lugana is a sleeper appellation in North-Central Italy, where the Turbiana grape thrives. It's light-bodied and fresh, with a slight roundness on the palate that lets peach and melon flavors shine. According to the producer, "This is a wine that stands out due to its great character, finesse, and persistent flavour. 98 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Chardonnay Cuvée Indigène is a barrel selection of some of the best blocks from across the Peter Michael property and was matured in barrel for 15 months, a touch longer than the single-vineyard wines. It has pure, alluring scents of white peach, fresh quince, meringue, flint and citrusy top notes, and each return to the glass reveals deeper aromatic nuances. Paul Vincent Ariston says that his 25-year-old vines reflect the vintage, but the Prestige, made from vines averaging 60 years, reflect his terroir. It is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, and 25% Meunier. This was one of the best bottles from my last trip, and we drank two just to make sure! It has fantastic Brouillet black cherry power, and finishes very dry and super long. It is a powerhouse in the style of a vintage Bollinger, but with even more soul! It's lively and generous with singular scents of lemon drop, pie crust and toasted meringue, plus integrated tones of matchstick and allspice. The medium-bodied palate is defined by its lacy, lightly mouth-coating texture. Though this has a new label and a slightly new name, this is still Antech's classic brut nature. The palate combines a bright spine of acidity with a satiny texture and expansive, layered stone fruit and spice layers, and it has a very long finish. 1,503 cases will be made, and the La Carrière will be released in February of 2024. It is a classy, elegant example of Margaux possessing a dark ruby/purple color, and a moderately intense nose of sweet black currant fruit intermixed with minerals, vanillin, and floral scents. The wine is medium-bodied, with beautifully sweet fruit. This linear, more compressed style of Margaux possesses a good inner-core of sweet fruit, and a charming, harmonious personality. Considered one of the best wines out of Margaux by price to quality ratio, the current estate was formed in the 1970s but the vineyard has a history going back to a Troisième Cru classification and is surrounded by first growth Margaux vineyards. Several critics have lavished praise on the tiny estate, which produces just 1,000 cases of wine annually. It has a more mineral-laced style as well as dark currants and cassis-like fruits, notes of smoked herbs and graphite, full body, building tannins, and a great finish. The Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 1987 comes from a cooler vintage. The resulting wines tend to be more delicate and lighter in structure. With decades of aging, this wine would have developed tertiary characteristics such as dried fruits, leather, tobacco, and earthy notes, with softened tannins and balanced acidity. While not as powerful as other vintages, the 1987 vintage still reflects the traditional style and elegance typical of Nebbiolo.

The Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 1980 comes from a cooler, wetter weather, which resulted in lighter and more delicate wines. However, in the hands of a respected producer like Produttori del Barbaresco, this wine still shows the classic elegance of Nebbiolo. After decades of aging, the wine would now exhibit tertiary notes of dried red fruit, leather, tobacco, and earth, with softer tannins and more subtle complexity. It is a testament to the producer's traditional winemaking and the aging potential of Barbaresco.
