Brouwerij Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze, Belgium (375ml) ($13.99)

Drie Fonteinen is the only remaining traditional geuze blender in Belgium, using 100% spontaneously fermented lambic beer, aged in oak casks, with no artificial sweeteners or other additives. The blendery is connected to the very popular Drie Fonteinen Restaurant in Beersel, on the outskirts of Brussels. The proprietor, Armand Debelder, buys pure lambic from three breweries in Belgium, ages them in oak and blends them, employing the skill, knowledge and supreme passion for real geuze that his father handed down to him. Drie Fontenein’s Geuze and fruit Lambics (cherry, raspberry) are rare, highly prized and indisputably among the best of Belgium. Like any traditional geuze, Drie Fonteinen’s Oude Geuze is tart, earthy and incredibly complex, but also spritzy as Champagne and greatly refreshing.

KleinBrouwerij De Glazen Toren "Cuvee Angelique" Dubbel Speciale Belge, Belgium 750ml - 10 available ($13.99)

This Speciale Belge beer style was created in 1904 for a brewing contest that was organized by the Universities of Belgium. The goal was to improve the quality of Belgian beer. The winner was a new style, called 'Belge.' Due to the success in the contest, a number of brewers decided to brew the style and called it Speciale Belge. A Speciale Belge is pale amber in color (slighly darker than a pilsner) as brewers tried to copy the color of pilsner in a top fermenting ale. Later the color became darker as pilsners became very common to prove that the style is something special. The current higher gravity beer styles are trappist, abbey ales and so on. Therefore Brouwerij de Glazen Toren decided to recreate this special beer style. 8% abv

Staff ImageAnthony Russo | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: December 08, 2017

One of the few brewed-to-be-weird beers that is actually super tasty without being too funky. The brewers nailed the aromas - Fruity Pebbles through and through supported by a backbone of orange zest. On the palate, the fruit aroma translates into a nice rhubarb bitterness that gives the beer structure and seriousness.

Lagunitas "GnarlyWine" Barleywine, California (22oz) - 0 available ($5.49)

Making a Mondo Ultra Mega Super Premium Barleywine Ale is a little like having a kid. The first part is fun and messy, it takes a while to ferment, and then a whole longer to mature. It is expensive and takes up a lot of space. You worry about how it'll grow up and whether or not you'll still be friends. Eventually it stays out all night and comes home with it's skirt on backwards. You know how it is. Usually we package our ales within 15 days of brewing. This one we aged in tanks for over a month. Why not buy three-? Drink one now, keep one in the 'fridge for a month, and one for another year! Yummy. . .

Heater Allen "Pils" Pilsner, Oregon (500ml) ($5.49)

From the brewery: "This is our take of the renowned Bohemian-style pale lager that you might find in Bavaria or the Czech Republic. Ours is a little more golden, rounder, and a little more malt driven than many other versions. The beer possesses strong hop character that is balanced by its rich, round, malty palate. Refreshing and balanced, this beer is a favorite of our winery friends during harvest."

Huge wafts of piney, tropical and citrus hop aromas come from the glass. A touch of tartness complements the grassy and grapefruit hop flavors of El Dorado and Citra hops. It finishes dry with a bright hop flavor that stays with you." (Producer Notes)

Revision Brewing Co. "Sucka Fish" Triple IPA, Nevada (22oz) ($10.99)

This sweet siren song of hoppy nectar will beckon you. Heaps of Amarillo, Mosaic and Simcoe hops provide a tantalizing mix of ripe citrus notes with a touch of pine. Be forewarned!
