2013 Quinta da Aveleda Loureiro Alvarinho Vinho Regional Minho

SKU #1161745 91 points Wine & Spirits

Aveleda’s estate wine continues to evolve, this vintage combining the granitic power of alvarinho (20 percent of the blend) with the lemon-lime freshness of loureiro (80 percent, leaving trajadura aside). A textbook Vinho Verde with plenty of acidity tied to its grapefruit flavors, this will brighten any summer party, especially if there’s grilled fish on the menu. (8/ 2014)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

(Ranked #1 in WE list of Top 100 Best Buys of 2014) This wine remains a benchmark for the Vinho Verde region, even though the producers have now recast it as a Minho wine. It is steely, tight and crisp, with a touch of creaminess that gives it a more rounded aftertaste. Drink now through 2015. (10/ 2014)

K&L Notes

A perennial staff and customer favorite, this Vinho Verde continues to deliver the goods, the fizzy, citrus-drenched, delicious goods. If you're looking for a poolside, picnic or patio sipper, this wine never disappoints. Though Quinta da Aveleda has decided to label this "vinho regional Minho," rest assured that it is still every bit as delicious as past vintages labeled "Vinho Verde" and from the same Vinho Verde region of northern Portugal

Here's the perfect sunny day party wine at a price point you just can't beat. It's zippy, crisp, dry and light with a slight fizz that exudes hints of grapefruit, lime, and white flowers. Plus The low alcohol makes this a great candidate to keep the party going all night long!

This is a classic Alvarainho, with clean, crisp lime-zest, refreshing flavors that are enhanced by a mild bubbly note (intentional), while its aromas are bright and distinctive. Eby has ordered me to bring home cases of this Gem to get ready for our Spring and Summer enjoyment...... 11.5% ABV

This is exactly what I want to drink everyday, especially in the warm LA winter that feels more like summer. Incredibly refreshing, crisp acidity, juicy lime, lemon zest, completely dry with bit of a richer body than most inexpensive Vinho Verde and a hint of effervescence making it perfect for porch sipping or accompanied by fresh seafood.

Always a favorite easy-to-drink white wine. It is clean and crisp with enough bright fruit to make it too easy to drink. On the dry side with a touch of fizz, it will go well alone or with calamari, shell fish and chicken.

As always one of the best value summer whites in the store. Just so fresh, zesty and refreshing. Lime zest, white flower, juicy citrus all enlivened by the little spritz. Very easy to drink with its moderate alcohol. This is a must-have for the summer heat. Exceptional value!
