Two Sisters is a limited production line intended to showcase the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blocks within Bill Foley's Rancho Las Hermanas Estate in the Santa Rita Hills, from vineyards named for his two daughters, Lindsay and Courtney. Pinot from Lindsay's Vineyard is classic Santa Rita Hills in character: ripe, lush, and layered, with spicy accents. Aged for seventeen months in 30% new French oak, the 2009 is concentrated with intense flavor, balanced acidity, and a bit of tannin on the back end, mark of the very dry vintage. Layers of berry preserve and candied vanilla play off notes of earthy and exotic spices on the finish from new oak aging.

If you're a fan of rich California style pinots, don't let this one slip by. Rich and round, almost Sonoma in texture with a nice dose of red and blue fruits, spicy notes and the French oak showing through nicely, yet not overpowering Good mouth-watering tannins and a wonderful mid palate weight create a mouthfeel of a very expensive Pinot. At 1/2 the previous price you get a very big deal wine at a fantastic discount.

After the rousing success of the Two Sisters Chardonnay we had to inquire if a similar deal was also available on the Pinot Noir under the same label. After tasting the wine we figured there was never going to be a chance. The wine was simply too good. It had all the wonderful, pretty, juicy qualities we love in Pinot. So we didn’t have our hopes up but figured we’d ask anyways, never hurts to ask right? Guess what? They said yes! So we give to you this delicious, nutmeg laden, cherry pie fruit driven, round yet fresh Pinot a whopping half off. If you loved their Chard we think you are really going to flip over this deal. Why don’t you try a bottle and find out?

Generous red fruits and intriguing spice notes. Big and bold, rich and round. There is plenty of ripeness here, but with superb underlying structure. Drinking well now, but with sufficient character for near term aging. An unbeatable value at this price.

Red cherry, raspberry, red currant, cranberry, spice. Medium acidity and medium plus tannin. Pretty expression of fruit, well-balanced and very drinkable!

Made with 667 & 777 clones aged in 20% new french oak for about 18 months. This is a very crowd pleasing wine! Rich black cherry and spicy wood notes are persistent throughout. Well balanced pinot at half the release price!

Pinot Noir

- One of France's most legendary grapes and the grape that earned Burgundy its reputation. The parent of varietals like Pinot Gris/Grigio and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir is blue to violet to indigo in color with relatively thin skins, and it is said to have been cultivated in France for more than 2,000 years. At its best, Pinot Noir creates elegant wines that are filled with primary red fruit aromas and flavors while young, revealing with an array of secondary characteristics like earth, smoke, violet, truffle and game with age. The varietal is also known, perhaps better than any, for its ability to translate terroir, or a sense of place. While the best Pinot Noir still comes from Burgundy, it is being produced with increasing success in cooler climates around the world. In France, it is part of the trifecta of grapes that can go into Champagne, and it is also grown in Alsace, Irancy, Jura, Savoie, Lorraine and Sancerre. Outside of France it is produced under the names Pinot Nero and Blauburgunder in Italy's mountainous regions, as Spätburgunder in Germany and as Blauburgunder in Austria. In the US, Pinot Noir has found suitable growing conditions in the cooler parts of California, including Carneros, the Russian River Valley, the Anderson Valley, the Sonoma Coast, Monterey County, the Santa Lucia Highlands and Santa Barbara County, as well as in Oregon's Willamette Valley. In recent years, New Zealand has demonstrated its ability to interpret this hard-to-grow varietal, with successful bottlings coming from careful and attentive growers in Central Otago, Martinborough and Canterbury. Chile is also an up-and-coming region for Pinot Noir, creating fresh, fruit-forward, early-drinking and affordable Pinots from the coastal Casablanca Valley and the Limari Valley.
