2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Bourgogne Aligote

William Kelley writes: "One of my favorite insider domaines in Burgundy, Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge produces a range of impressively consistent and compelling wines from some 10 hectares spread across the appellations of Auxey-Duresses, Meursault and Pommard. Old vines, cultivated soils and classical winemaking are the rudiments of Gilles Lafouge's recipe for success. The clean and organized cuverie and cellar immediately communicate a sense of dedication and attention to detail that comes across just as strongly in the glass. This estate is a source ...

2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Meursault

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Hailing from the lieux-dits Les Clous and Moulin Landin, the 2017 Meursault unfurls in the glass with pretty aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, citrus oil, hazelnut cream and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, with an elegantly textural attack, a good core of fruit and crisp acids. What's more, there are fully eleven barrels this year. (WK)" (04/2019) 91 points John Gilman: "It is not just the Auxey blanc cuvées chez Lafouge that have excellent cut and grip on 2017, ...

2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Meursault "Les Casses-Têtes"

92 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Meursault “Casse Têtes” from Domaine Lafouge is also excellent on both the nose and palate. The bouquet delivers a classic blend of pear, apple, passion fruit, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and a bit more reserved today than the Meix Chavaux, with a fine core, lovely focus and cut and impressive lift on the long and nascently complex finish. This too is excellent." (12/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Meursault L ...

2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Auxey-Duresses Rouge

90 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Auxey-Duresses rouge is a very strong villages. The nose is pure and complex, delivering a fine blend of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, chalky soil tones, gamebird, woodsmoke and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impressively transparent in personality, with a good sappy core, lovely purity and bounce, modest tannins and a long, soil-driven finish. Good juice that will age very nicely, yet drink with serious generosity with only a couple of years in the cellar." (12/2018) Rober ...

2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Côte d'Or Bourgogne Rouge

John Gilman: "The Lafouge family’s 2017 Bourgogne rouge is a very good example, offering up a bright bouquet of cherries, quince, a fine base of soil, woodsmoke and a gentle topnote of roses. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, nicely soil-driven and tangy, with a solid core and just a bit of ripe tannin perking up the quite long finish. These vines are directly across the RN-74 from the vines of the Château de Pommard as one enters into Pommard from Beaune. Good juice." (12/2018)

2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Auxey Duresses Blanc "Les Boutonniers"

91 points John Gilman: "I discovered on this trip that the vineyard of les Boutonniers is very good for pinot noir as well, as this is the climat from which the Coche family produces their Auxey rouge bottling. The 2017 Boutonniers blanc from Gilles Lafouge is simply excellent, delivering a refined aromatic constellation of apple, pear, a touch of fresh almond, orange zest, plenty of chalky minerality and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and crisp, with a lovely core, impressive cut and grip and a long, focused and ...
