2016 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge Top Pick!
2016 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge

94 points James Suckling: "This has a very plush, luscious and generously fleshy feel. Cherry compote, raspberries, blackberries and plums. Tarry elements, too. Smooth, velvety, pure and even. Succulence, elegance and clarity. Such value here. Drink or hold." (08/2018) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel was bottled just two weeks before my visit, hence the plus sign attached to its rating. Planted just outside the boundaries of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the vines here average 80 years ol ...Read More »

2016 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

99 points James Suckling: "This is a stunning Beaucastel. A classic! Has a superb array of fruit, ranging from red, through to blue, darker purple and black. Nuances of dark, stony minerals, spices, wild flowers and herbs. So fleshy. This has impeccable balance, super-silky tannins and an extraordinarily long finish. This has decades ahead of it. Drink or hold." (08/2018) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled only a week before my visit, I was blown away by how well Beaucastel's 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape was showing. It's full-bodied, creamy ...Read More »

2010 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Showing consistently with the barrel review, the 2010 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the remainder an assortment of varieties) is a classic Beaucastel that has both richness and elegance. Showing loads of black cherry, new leather, licorice, pepper, and hints of flowers on the nose, this full-bodied, structured, yet surprisingly elegant and polished 2010 has fantastic purity of fruit, superb balance, and knockout length. Showing more and more structure with air, ...Read More »

2016 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2016 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The flagship is the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin, 75% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, 10% Grenache, and the rest Counoise, brought up all in foudre. Blueberries, Peking duck, new saddle leather, black cherries, scorched earth, and an incredible sense of minerality all flow to a massive, concentrated, pure, perfectly balanced 2016 that is a prime example of the old saying, “an iron fist in a velvet glove.” It's a heavenly, perfect wine that's going to live for 30-50 years. 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) Back In Stock!
2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvèdre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 o ...Read More »

2007 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Beaucastel" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Truly exceptional, and showing every bit as good as last year, the 2007 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel (44% Mourvèdre, 29% Grenache, 21% Syrah, and 6% Counoise) delivers awesome aromatics reminiscent of a top ’07 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, showing pure blackberry, kirsch, licorice, incense, and herbed rubbed meaty notes. Dense, concentrated, and fantastically textured, this full bodied beauty should drink well for 10 to 15 years." 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Still incredibly youthful and a touch reserved (especially when compared to the ’00), the 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape still needs another 5 years to truly shine. At present, it delivers a dense, pure bouquet of meaty dark fruits, game, ripe herb, and licorice, medium to full -body, brilliant concentration, and a long, classic finish. This gradually opens in the glass so if drinking anytime soon, a short decant or longer double decant is recommended." (09/2011) 96 points James Suckling: "Earthy, subtly leathery ...Read More »

2007 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Beaucastel" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The prodigious 2007 Esprit de Beaucastel is a blend of 44% Mourvèdre, 29% Grenache, 21% Syrah, and the rest Counoise. A very great wine, very much in the mold of its French cousin, Chateau Beaucastel, the wine has a saturated ruby/purple color and a gorgeous nose of melted licorice, charcoal, blueberry, and blackberries intermixed with freshly sliced mushrooms, tree bark, and pepper. Spicy, dense, full-bodied, and extraordinarily complex, yet at the same time well-delineated and fresh, it should drink well for 10 ...Read More »

2008 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Beaucastel" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Esprit de Beaucastel flows with sweet dark cherries, flowers, tobacco and spices. It is a beautiful, classically built wine graced with striking inner perfume, lovely mid-palate juiciness and a round, utterly harmonious finish. Well-integrated, silky tannins linger on the close. This is a fabulous wine from Tablas Creek. My sense is that the wine should be tasted upon release and then again only after a number of years in bottle. In 2008 the blend is 38% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache, 26% Syrah and 6% Counoise ...Read More »

2009 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Beaucastel Rouge" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am thrilled to see the 2009 Esprit de Beaucastel burst from the glass with an exciting melange of dark red cherries, flowers, sweet herbs, mint and spices. Exotic spiced notes linger on the finish. The 2009 boasts serious intensity, richness and depth, but it remains quite tannic and in need of further bottle age. The vintage saw both frost and drought, two conditions that are a little unusual in the same year. Now that it is in bottle, the 2009 meets all of the expectations I had when I tasted it from barrel l ...Read More »

2017 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Moving to the two Châteauneuf-du-Pape releases and 35% Mourvèdre, 25% Grenache, 8% Syrah, 12% Counoise, the rest other permitted varieties (Marc calls this a Mourvèdre vintage), the 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape sports an inky purple color as well as a textbook Mourvèdre nose of black, black fruits, smoked meats, crushed rocks, charcoal, and pepper. It's deep and full-bodied, with beautiful purity and building structure. Production is down 40%, but this brilliant wine is certainly in the same league as the 2016. 2016 Château Beaucastel Roussanne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Vieilles Vignes

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Also bottled two weeks ago, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is utterly killer and is as good as it gets. Huge notes of orange blossom, peach, tangerine, honeysuckle, and caramelized citrus flow from this insanely good, unctuous, heavenly textured white that possesses full-bodied richness and power, yet stays light, graceful and perfectly balanced on the palate. Drink bottles anytime over the coming 4-6 years, or cellar for a decade or more. Robert Parker once famously called this the Montrachet of the Rhône ...Read More »

2006 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Beaucastel Rouge" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)

93 points from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red with a bright rim. Spicy red berries, potpourri and minerals on the nose; this smells awfully fresh. Bright, palate-staining raspberry and blackcurrant flavors possess excellent concentration and are leavened by zesty minerality. Finishes smooth and silky, with echoing raspberry and floral qualities. This is complex enough to enjoy right now." (Nov/Dec '08) 93 points and one the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2009: "Well-balanced, intense yet elegant. Full-bodied, showing vivid blueb ...Read More »

2004 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L)

93 points Robert Parker: "One of the great successes of the vintage and certainly better than their 2003 is Beaucastel’s 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape. Deep ruby/purple in color with loads of licorice, smoked game, black cherry and blackberry fruit, along with incense and truffle, the wine has fabulous richness, high tannin, medium to full body, and beautiful length, richness, and purity. This is a beauty and one of the vintage’s finest wines. Give it 4-6 years of bottle age and drink it over the next 25+ years. It has the potential to be one of the longest-l ...Read More »

Buttered citrus, honeysuckle, flower oil, and white flowers all flow to this rich, beautifully layered, fresh and vibrant white that's impeccably balanced. 2003 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (375ml)

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the big names of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and this wine justifies the fame of the Perrin family’s property. It is a rich style, but, more importantly, it is beautifully made, structured, dense, with red jelly fruits, a touch of vanilla and a fat, full-bodied, but firm aftertaste. This is a wine for aging—give it at least five years before touching it. *Editors' Choice* (RV)" (12/2005) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Young and tight, with garrigue and roasted game aromas peeking out from a core of ripe black currant, plum and ...Read More »

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96JD, 96WE, 96WS, 95RP, 94ST, 94VN). Wine Spectator: "Dark, dense and very closed now, this has a tremendous core of crushed plum, linzer torte and blackberry confiture waiting in reserve. Ample singed cedar and mesquite, warm paving stone and black tea notes lurk in the background and glide through the finish. Features serious grip, but wonderful integration. Should cruise in the cellar. Best from 2016 through 2035. (JM)" (08/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I found this bottle of 2001 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage À Jacques Perrin to be slightly behind a recent bottle from my cellar. Nevertheless, it was perfumed and surprisingly open, with gorgeous cedar, charcuterie, truffle, blackberry and currant-like fruit all soaring from the glass. Full-bodied, seamless and supple, with its tannin, fruit and acidity perfectly balanced, it’s just now on the cusp of moving from its adolescent stage into the early stages of maturity. Give bottles another 3-5 years and enjoy over the following couple of decades. The blend here is the classic, foudre-aged mix of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Counoise, and 10% Syrah.
