Vinous: "Sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint, leather and spice give this mid-weight Pinot a good bit of nuance and complexity throughout. (AG)" (07/2018) K&L Notes: With every new release of Banshee we become more and more impressed with just how dedicated to quality these three young men and their team are. This year sees the Banshee family of wines moving their production into a new winemaking facility in Sonoma, adding even more well-known, "name brand" vineyards into their mix and fleshing out their already robust amount of releases with a few new gem ...Read More »

90 points Vinous: "The 2015 Red Blend Mordecai is a terrific example of something Banshee often does so well: craft delicious, value-priced wines with healthy production numbers that makes them relatively easy to find. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are at the core of this juicy, plump red. Drink it over the next few years. (AG)" (07/2018) K&L Notes: Winery Notes: "The very rough and unscientific formula is this: about a third Bordeaux varieties, about a third Rhone varieties, and about a third other varieties dominated by Zinfandel with a bit of of this ...Read More »

Banshee started in 2009 when three wine industry buddies made a gamble and bought eight barrels of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir - a gamble that paid off when they were able to sell all the wine within five weeks. Since then, they've developed relationships with some of the best growers in the area and have been producing beautiful wines with winemakers Ross Cobb (Hirsch, Flowers, Williams-Selyem) and Katy Wilson (Larue, Flowers). The 2016 coastal Chardonnay comes from a variety of vineyards in the Sonoma Coast, including both Heintz and Bohemian. Notes from ...Read More »

Sauvignon Blanc is nothing new to the Banshee portfolio, as the lucky trio who scored a surprise success with their initial, 8-barrel lot of coveted Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (that they purchased by the gallon and turned around in five weeks flat) launched a Sauvignon Blanc label the very next year. We're big fans of the Banshee wines, and suggest that you snap up a bottle or two of the 2017 while it's here.

With every new release of Banshee we become more and more impressed with just how dedicated to quality these three young men, and the team around them, are. Winemaker's notes: "White peach, citrus, and apricot blossom aromas unfold onto the palate with blood orange, rhubarb and pomegranate flavors. Lively acidity with great tension and verve with a chalky, saline quality. A diverse blend of 38% Grenache, 26% Barbera, 24% Syrah & 12% Pinot Noir, the 2017 Rose from Banshee is whole cluster pressed with minimal skin contact. The components were fermented se ...Read More »

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Leading off the Paso Robles Torrin releases, the 2015 The Banshee checks in as a blend of 40% Syrah, 35% Grenache, and 25% Mourvèdre that spent 22 months in a combination of 300- and 400-liter barrels, 35% being new. Rocking levels of black and blue fruit as well as subtle violets, spring flowers, and classic Paso Robles minerality all emerge from this layered, medium to full-bodied effort that shines both for its richness and elegance. Drink it any time over the coming decade." (11/2018) 95 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Potent d ...Read More »
