Produced from primarily estate-grown Verdejo, just outside the village of La Seca ("the cradle of Verdejo" as the sign states!), this is a wonderful expression of Rueda. Verdejo, in its refreshing, cleanly fruited profile and tropical leanings, mimics Sauvignon Blanc, without any overt green notes or the occasional blowsiness of some New World examples. Ayre's aromas of white peach and fruit cocktail lead to a palate of fresh fruits, with some minerality adding further structure and focus.
