2016 Fèlsina "Fontalloro" Toscana 6-Pack OWC (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
98 points James Suckling: "Amazing aromas of licorice, wet earth, orange peel and lavender. Full body, tight and super compact and polished. Goes on for minutes. Clearly great." (06/2019) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Fontalloro is the best vintage of this landmark wine that I have tasted thus far. This is a very elegant vintage, with more volume in the mouth and precise notes of tar, licorice, camphor ash, resin and Indian spice. In a race between the highly competitive 2015 and 2016 vintages, I give a slight advantage to this win...
Price: $299.99

93 points Vinous: "The 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baroncole is a great example of the year. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, tobacco and licorice wrap around the palate in a racy, voluptuous Chianti loaded with pure class and pedigree. Hints of game, tobacco and cedar add nuance on the finish. (AG)" (09/2014) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright medium red. Pungent, wild aromas of redcurrant, sweet spices, underbrush and flint. Silky and fine-grained, with heady minerality and floral character energizing the redcurra...

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There might be just one 300-liter barrel and one glass bonbon of the 2015 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru—but what a barrel and bonbon they are! It has an outrageously gorgeous bouquet with ample ripe black cherry, blueberry and violet scents that are utterly intoxicating. The palate is very well balanced with crisp tannin, wonderful mineralité and energy, replete with a linear and poised finish. This is a Bonnes-Mares that manages to embrace both the opulence that emanates from the vineyard and a sense of precision th...

Price: $500.00

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe yet restrained nose somewhat grudgingly offers up its aromas of dark currant, plum, spice and freshly turned earth. There is outstanding size, weight and concentration to the very suave, round and quite generously proportioned big-bodied flavors that culminate in a muscular and well-balanced finish where a touch of the classic youthful austerity appears. This too will require at least some patience though I would expect that this could be approached after only 7 to 8 years of cellaring." (04/2017) 92-94 p...

97 points Decanter: "The south-facing Rancia vineyard reaches altitudes of 420 metres, overlooking the lower-lying vineyards of Colli Senesi. It boasts complex soils of calcareous clay layered with the chalky white limestone-like alberese and schistose galestro. This 2016 vintage is simply stunning. It's stately yet gracious, with personality for days, leading with a sumptuous nose of smoke, exotic spice and iron-rich earth. Ripe fruit coats the mouth yet it remains buoyant and tangy as chalky tannins charge in to frame the palate. A seductive wine with ...
Price: $325.00

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright, dark red. Knockout pure, vibrant nose of dark fruits, espresso and flowers accented by pungent minerality. Youthful and stylish, with harmonious ripe acidity energizing the middle palate. This wine depends as much on its ripe, juicy acidity as on its suave, fine-grained tannins for shape and structure. In a rather Burgundian style, finishing very fresh but not reduced." (11/2013) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Deeply colored and spicy, this features vanilla and resin accents to the black c...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Sammarco was bottled in August and will be released in January 2019. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Sangiovese. At this young stage, the wine already offers an impressive array of complex aromas with dark berry, spice and grilled herb neatly overlapping. Those tones are delivered with perfume-like grace and intensity. This vintage is streamlined and compact in terms of mouthfeel, and those youthful tannins remind us that this wine will award the best results to those who have the ...

95 points James Suckling: "A structured red with polished tannins and subtle vanilla, chocolate and currant character on the nose and palate. Full body, with integrated tannins and a compacted palate. Builds on the palate. Muscular and intense. Needs until 2015 to soften. Try it then." (11/2014) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Flaccianello della Pieve is a huge wine that definitely shows the richness of the year, yet somehow retains fabulous balance. Ripe black cherries, mocha, spices and licorice are some of the many notes that fles...

Price: $360.00

96 points James Suckling: "Very impressive red plums and the Alion has a very approachable feel to it, supple and even. The nose delivers some savory, slightly tarry and earthy character with a classic, direct and easy-to-understand feel. Some dried flowers, too. The palate has medium body and delivers fleshy, round red cherries, gently savory, spicy elements and fine, long and detailed tannins. A great Alion, full of flavor, very fresh. Drink across the next 15 years." (06/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Produced with 100% Tinto Fino o...

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Il Carbonaione is one of the truly exceptional wines of this challenging season. Lithe and aromatic on the palate, with fabulous energy and overall brightness, it stands out for its superb balance. In many vintages, Il Carbonaione can be a bit bombastic. The 2014, on the other hand, is all finesse. Violet, lavender and cloves add shades of nuance to this bright, beautifully persistent Carbonaione. The 2014 won't be at its best for at least a few years, but its potential is evident. (AG) 95+" (01/2018) 94 points James Sucklin...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is another benchmark wine from Tuscany that shows the incredible potential of this iconic vintage. This beautiful single-vineyard Sangiovese reveals a graceful side with dark fruit intensity, cherry, plum, fresh violets and tilled earth. Tar, tobacco and licorice appear as delicate background tones, giving more volume and texture to the wine's sensorial impact. Vigna del Sorbo shows its own precise identity that is fiercely faithful to Sangiovese, but that ...
Price: $590.00

97 points Wine Spectator: "This is special, with a very deep well of plum, fig, cassis and blackberry fruit seamlessly melded together and a nearly endless finish inlaid with Lapsang souchong tea, melted licorice snap and Turkish coffee notes. Stays very poised despite its immense weight. Hard to resist now, but it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Best from 2013 through 2030." (10/2012) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres is composed of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, and came in at 15.5% alcohol...

96 points James Suckling: "Intense aromas of iron, rust, earth and dark, dried fruits. It's full-bodied, with incredible depth of fruit, berries and lemon peel. Drink or hold. A beautiful Brunello. So much going on here. Gorgeous. " (12/2014) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Caparzo's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa opens to dark intensity with blackish-garnet undertones. The wine exhibits muscle and power with a large array of aromatic qualities that include dried cherry, spice, leather, tobacco, licorice and tar. It aspires to high...

97 points James Suckling: "Profound aromas of blueberry, sweet tobacco, wet earth, cedar and oyster shell follow through to full body with silky tannins and a dusty finish. A savory, beautiful wine with lots of character and depth. Better in 2017. " (12/2014) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is offered as a complete case in original packaging. 97 points James Suckling: "A riserva with so much structure and tension. A full body that shows dried fruit and mushroom flavors. Walnut soil, too. So long and powerful. A glorious wine. Wine for the long term. Drink in 2017." (11/2016) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Only made in the best vintages, this wine represents the pinnacle of Castello Banfi's quality production. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio All'Oro is a stunning achievement and will serve as a benchmark for this estate's future endeavors. The bouquet delivers both ...
Price: $825.00

97 points James Suckling: "This has a wonderful texture of beautiful, ultra-fine tannins, complex character of dark fruit, currants, hazelnuts and light chocolate. Goes on for minutes. Give it three or four years of bottle age but already so delicious. Drink in 2022. (ML)" (09/2018) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Giusto di Notri is a profound and dark blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It exudes gravitas and importance with every sip, showing consecutive, deep layers of minerality, dark stone, ...
Price: $440.00

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(these vines are 35 years old): Bright, deep red. Raspberry and nutty oak aromas. Sweet and lush, but with harmonious acidity giving shape and verve to the fine-grained flavors of currant and licorice. This boasts suaver tannins than the 2007 version yet finishes with at least as much force. (ST)" (11/2011) 93 points Vinous: "The 2008 Barolo Vigna d'la Roul emerges from the glass with freshly cut roses, spices, dark red cherries, mocha and menthol. This is another 2008 Barolo with terrific richness...

2016 Parusso "Bussia" Barolo 6-Pack (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
96 points Vinous: "Marco Parusso's 2016 Barolo Bussia brings together all the best elements of his style and year in a wine that is simply brilliant. Sweet floral notes, dark red fruit, mint, blood orange and spice infuse the 2016 with myriad layers of complexity. A bold, dramatic Barolo made from Rocche and Munie fruit, the 2016 is going to need a number of years to be at its best. Price: $535.00

97 points Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous, with a velvety, caressing mouthfeel to the waves of linzer torte, warm cassis and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors, laced with black tea, mulled spice, singed alder and melted licorice notes. The long finish has latent grip and a beautiful iron accent but remains beguiling overall, letting the fruit and perfume play out beautifully. (JM)" (07/2017) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The smallest production cuvée is the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Le Secret des Sabon, which is a field blend of primarily Grenach...
Price: $895.00

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The limited production cuvee of 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape La Combe des Fous (60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Muscardin, Vaccarese and Cinsault) is awesome. There have been many great vintages of this wine (2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011), but the 2010 flirts with perfection. One of the most complex aromatic expressions of Chateauneuf du Pape, it offers up notes of Christmas fruitcake, spring flowers, mulberries, blueberries, black raspberries, espresso beans and spice box. Full-bodied, opulent and voluptuously te...
Price: $1,150.00

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Shockingly good given that it’s 100% Grenache (which struggled in the vintage), the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Grenaches de Pierre comes all from sandy soils in La Crau and Pignan. Aged all in concrete, it’s more focused and concentrated than the Gallimardes, with beautiful minerality, dark fruit, roasted garrigue and assorted Provencal nuances. Serious stuff, with full-bodied richness and chewy tannin, it will have a broad drink window. Count me a fan. Drink 2015-2027. This is a terrific lineup of wines by the...
Price: $500.00

92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the 2011 Blanc de Noirs Côtes de Béchalin is outstanding, with exotic notes of honeyed citrus, tangerine, and flowers. This beauty hits the palate with medium to full body, has a layered, ripe, seamless texture, and a great finish. It’s drinking at point today, but it should keep nicely through 2026." (02/2019) 92 points Vinous: "The 2011 Blanc de Noirs Côte de Bechalin is a very beautiful wine, especially within the context of this challenging vintage. Yellow orchard fruit, chamomile, wild flowers and...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Barolo Garblet Sue’ raises the ante with little more spice and up-front fruit, dark herbs, blue flower, hazelnut and wet underbrush. The wine does a great job of mirroring its territory in terms of aromas, but again, it needs a little more momentum in the mouth. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2020. Price: $350.00

95 points Vinous: "In 2011, the Barolo Le Serra benefits from its slightly higher elevation and cooler micro-climate, both of which give the wine an added element of freshness that is needed. Dark red stone fruits, flowers, spices and leather are all supported by the characteristic firm La Serra tannins, but the 2011 has a little more mid-palate depth and overall volume that serves to balance some of the angular contours that can be present. A gorgeous and complete wine, the La Serra is also an overachiever in 2011. (AG)" (03/2015) 94 points James Suck...
Price: $1,000.00

96 points James Suckling: "Impressive fresh leather-clad red cherries with a subtle earthiness in the background. Quite pure. Floral and aromatic. The palate has a very elegant yet powerful core of blueberries and cherries. A smooth release of fruit sweetness into the fresh and vibrant finish. Elegant and classic. More open than normal. Impressive now but better from 2022." (04/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine was made in 2011 and 2012 but not in 2013. The 2014 Barolo Falletto (white label) is fascinating to taste right after t...
Price: $1,050.00

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Firmly structured and loaded with energy, this intense red opens with aromas of new leather, pipe tobacco, eucalyptus and a whiff of cake spice. The aromas carry over to the vibrant palate along with raspberry and cherry set against a firm backbone of assertive but refined tannins. Tightly wound and youthfully austere, it still needs time but seems destined to blossom into a beauty. Drink 2025-2043. *Cellar Selection* (KO)" (07/2017) 91-94 points Vinous: "The 2013 Barolo Parussi, Massolino's single Barolo from Castiglione Fa...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I had tasted this vintage last year as a barrel sample. Now a fully complete wine, the 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pora did not disappoint, and even jumped up a few points. The Riserva Pora opens to dark fruit intensity with a slightly more accessible quality. Those lovely floral tones of lavender and violet are ever present. After having spent three years in oak and another year in the bottle, this wine offers a looser mouthfeel in terms of tannic structure, making it a bit more open and immediate in personality. Yo...

100 points Vinous: "Rampolla's 2010 d'Alceo is utterly spellbinding today. Even better than it was last year, the 2010 impresses for its exceptional balance and pure finesse. Everything is simply in the right place. Silky, layered and unbelievably expressive, the 2010 d'Alceo is a thrill from the very first taste. Over the decades the Di Napoli family has made so many breathtaking wines, but the 2010 d'Alceo is something more than breathtaking, and that something more is hard to express with words. Readers lucky enough to taste the 2010, however, will kn...

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes is a blend of 85% Grenache and the rest equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre from the same parcels as the 2011. The wine is aged primarily in foudres with small percentages of the Syrah and Mourvedre kept in new 600-liter demi-muids. A spectacular effort, it displays a confit of camphor, blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries, lavender and other floral notes. This full-bodied, massive Chateauneuf du Pape is remarkably light on its feet despite what mus...

98 points James Suckling: "Terrific aromas of blackberries, walnuts, spices, bark and mushrooms. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and bright acidity. So beautiful now but be patient. This needs four or five years to come completely together. Wow. What class and precision define this wine. The aromas show such subtle complexity and beauty. Full and tight with a solid core of fruit. Polished tannins to the maximum. Better in 2021." (01/2017) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Camphor and leather notes introduce this rich red, which transitions to cherry, licorice, ...

95 points James Suckling: "This Barolo shows very pure and vibrant cherries on the nose with light, perfumed nuances that create an ethereal mood. The palate is delivered as a set of succulent and detailed tannins, soaked in red cherries and leading to a long, juicy and impressively concentrated finish. Best to hold for three to five years." 96 points Vinous: "The 2006 Clos des Goisses is stellar, but it is also going to need quite a bit of time to come into its own. Powerful and ample in the best of the Goisses style, the 2006 hits the palate with serious intensity. Orchard fruits, lemon oil, white flowers and almonds are some of the many notes that open up in the glass, but, as is often the case with young Goisses, it is the wine's gravitas that is front and center. Even with all of its overtness, though, the 2006 retains striking, crystalline purity. I imagine the 2006 will reward Champag...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The flagship is the Grenache-dominated 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Imperiale, which comes from vines planted in 1902 and was destemmed and aged in concrete tanks. Awesome notes of blackberries, blueberries, crushed rocks, violets, and graphite all emerge from this tight, full-bodied, concentrated and backward Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Possessing incredible purity of fruit, a concentrated yet fresh, structured profile, and a huge finish, it just needs time to shine. 97+" (08/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Almost en...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes is up with the crème de la crème of the vintage and in the same league as the perfect 2010. Awesome notes of blackberries, crème de cassis, charred meats, licorice, and violets all soar from the glass. It's powerful, opulent, and structured, with building tannin, a huge mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish, yet it never loses its sense of purity and elegance. It's an incredible achievement from this estate. The blend is 45% Grenache, 45% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah, all aged in 55% new Fr...

97 points John Gilman: "Like the Latricières, the Trapets’ 2017 Chambertin was showing brilliantly at the time of my visit. This is a stunning example of this great terroir, offering up a pure and aristocratic aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, bitter chocolate, black plums, grilled meats, a very complex base of soil, mustard seed, a touch of anise and a fine base of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, structured and very, very complex, with a great core of fruit, stunning transparency, ripe, seamless tannins and great...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Croix de Bois comes from a site on the eastern side of the appellation and, like its bigger brother, is 100% destemmed Grenache that saw 21 months in concrete tanks. Blueberries, crème de cassis, crushed rocks, licorice, and pepper notes all emerge from this deep, powerful, surprisingly structured example of this cuvée. It has tons of fat and richness, but give bottles a few years." (08/2018) 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not yet bottled, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois look...

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Combe des Fous shows the seamless, silky side to the vintage, and has closed down slightly since I tasted it from barrel. Its big, intense nose of black cherries, blueberries, white chocolate, and garrigue gives way to a full-bodied, plush, gorgeously layered 2015 that will benefit from 2-4 years of cellaring. " (10/2017) 93-95 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of ripe dark berries, candied lavender, cola and white pepper, accompanied by a hint of musky earth in the background. J...

97 points Vinous: "Another highlight in this range, the 2014 Barolo Ravera opens with the most exquisite, captivating aromatics imaginable. It will be interesting to see if it develops a bit more midpalate depth and pliancy. Today, the 2014 is a bit austere, even within the context of the year and this site, where the wines are a bit on the nervous side to start. I have seen Vietti Raveras blossom into spectacular wines and imagine that will be the case here as well. Readers should not plan on opening a bottle anytime soon. (AG)" (02/2018) K&L Notes: P...

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the gems of the vintage is the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus Ex Machina which is as always, a 60/40 split of Grenache and Mourvèdre. It offers sensational notes of blackberries, ground herbs, white chocolate and an undeniable meatiness (It reminds me of a butcher shop from the south of France) that develops with time in the glass. Full-bodied, perfumed, complex, elegant and layered, it doesn’t have the density of the 2015, 2010 or 2007, yet is seamless. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 15+. I’ve written s...
